The American Friends of the
Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf
Statement of Purpose
To aid, encourage, stimulate, foster, and promote Christian presence and ministry in the Middle East through the work, future continuity and presence/ministry of the Anglican congregations in the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf;
To educate Americans about the importance of our Christian presence and ministry in Cyprus and the Gulf countries—a ministry among Christians of multiple denominations, ethnicities, languages and traditions, clarifying many presuppositions about religious dynamics in the region of the Middle East;
Map points locate places where diocesan congregations, which host numerous other congregations as well, are located
Furthermore, the American Friends of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf will endeavor to inform and educate Americans about Christian presence and ministry in the countries where the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf exercises ministry among Christians of multiple denominations, ethnicities, languages and traditions, correcting and clarifying many beliefs and presuppositions about religious dynamics in the region of the Middle East.
The American Friends of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf raises funds in support of the mission of the Anglican Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, to be administered under the authority of the bishop of the diocese. Our missional support will include but not be limited to: the work of the bishop, the work of the parishes, the programs of the diocese.
AFDCG is established to raise awareness of this important ministry in the Middle East and to raise funds in support of this work. AFDCG has been approved as a licensed 501(c) (3) so anyone wishing to contribute to the work of the Anglican/Episcopal Church in that part of the world from the USA will be able to receive a tax receipt for the amount donated. Importantly, this will allow the Diocese to also receive gifts/funding from US-based NGO’s, Foundations, Non-Profits, legacies, congregations, as well as individuals.
